Making the humans rack their brains never fail to grant Zen much joy.
One day, he was given an opportunity.
MIL was showering when Eiji left the house to meet me. I have absolutely no idea what came over Eiji but it didn’t occur to him that he should have closed the door after him since he was the last person in Zen’s sight. A short while later, Zen twist and turn to wriggle out of the gaps of the gate. I reckon he was desperately trying to find Eiji. Zen dashed across the corridor and started his journey down the stairs from 20th storey. Thankfully, a neighbour’s daughter saw him and her mum gave chase. Around 16th storey, she managed to stop and carry Zen up. Neighbour knocked hurriedly on our door and saved my day.
Before we came to know the undistorted storyline, the FIL told us a colorful story that Zen took a lift down and was running afree downstairs on the grass patch till a neighbour spot him. The hubby meekly asked if I would divorce him if Zen was gone for good. Frankly, I duno. No, I don’t think so. But a cold war is inevitable.
When I reached home, I beckon sheepish-looking Zen to show me how he did it. Like a soldier in training doing leopard crawl, he started crawling out from the lowermost gap. At one point, he realised he has been tricked and stopped crawling out, leaving his hind legs and tail behind. I thought he was stucked but NO LOR! Too late. I dragged him out. Once he is out, hell broke loose. I started whacking and reprimanding. Afterwhich, he was made to sit outside for a good 15 minutes as punishment.
After 5 minutes…
Z: Must sit, must sit. Cannot lie down.

After 10 minutes…
Z: Bother! Should I seek refuge with the pretty shihtzu next door.

After 15 minutes…
Z: Let me try to melt the ice in mummy’s heart.
*GRINS*
*SHIFTS A LITTLE*
*SIT PROPERLY*
*STICKS OUT TONGUE*

And he succeeded. Doesn’t he look like a snowman made from 2 snowballs?]
The MIL painstakingly took 2 hours to sew this up. Some cloth mesh she bought from Peoples Park. Quite sturdy though. She says if Zen disappear, she will also heartpain. Awwwww…..

Heng wor, lucky your neighbour saw him and brought him back. He look so poor thing being ‘locked up’ Heez. And your MIL so nice lor! Sewing the cloth mesh up for you:)
haha.. ‘locked up’ or ‘locked out’..
vodka would have ran away within the first 10 secs!
Zen is soooo guai can still sit so still outside and wait.
If my gals hor, they will be happily exploring the outside corridor without a care. In the end, its me tat give in….worried that they will run down the stairs or into the lift when it opens…haiz!
btw, ur mil is soooo sweet.
Really VERY heng lor. If he really managed to climb 20 stairs down(I hate to think about it), I think someone would either have taken him home or he would have ran to main road.
Gana scolding already. Had a taste of Zen-ma’s iron fist. No more “bao4 zi2 dan3″ to run away. Haha.
I do appreciate the MIL’s efforts. :p
Gosh you have such a nice MIL! If only my future one would even acknowledge me! Anyway that’s beside the story…
But wow didn’t they have grill bar gates with such a wide gap. Anyway, glad he’s all fine and back with you, I’m sure Zen knows not to do it again..
Babe, a lot of things take time.
Sometimes we have to fight(strategise?) for it.
I thank God he is back in my arms.
